From Surviving to Thriving

Nina
Congestive heart failure and diabetes run in my family. So for me, health has always been something I couldn’t ignore.
I was insulin resistant, taking insulin shots twice a day. I worked out consistently—every day—but still wasn’t seeing the results I needed. I felt stuck, tired, and frustrated. I knew I was trying, but something wasn’t adding up.
And let me tell you, the environment I was in didn’t help.
Everyone around me was ordering fast food, and as a former Navy chef, people were always asking me to cook my famous Southern meals. I grew up in the South, where a big Sunday dinner was tradition—fried, creamy, rich, and full of flavor. I knew how to make it all. But even with all of that, there was still a disconnect. My body was speaking, and I finally realized I had to listen.
After a few real conversations and hearing our now mentor speak truth, I finally saw it clearly:
I needed to go plant-based.
And let me tell you—that was the best decision I’ve ever made.
Since making the switch, I’ve lost the waste—physically and emotionally. I feel lighter, more energized, and I can think so clearly. My mind, body, and spirit are in alignment. My body is no longer fighting me—it’s thanking me.
This lifestyle gave me back control. It reminded me that I deserve to feel good in my body. I’m not just breaking cycles—I’m building a new legacy.
